The VERO 1,000 mg/h ozone cleaner is designed for ice baths and cold plunge pools of various sizes. It features an integrated air pump, meaning no additional pump is required.
The amount of treatment needed depends on water volume, frequency of use, water quality and circulation. Larger baths may require additional treatment cycles, although treatment effectiveness at specific volumes has not been independently verified.
Our own usual practice is 60 minutes, twice daily (2 hours total), for our own roughly 450 L bath. Scaling that proportionally gives an illustrative daily runtime for other bath sizes:
A quick note on capacity: the litre size advertised on an ice bath is usually its nominal/maximum size, not the actual volume of water you end up with once it's filled and you're sitting in it. A bath advertised as 600 L, for example, typically only holds around 450–500 L in practice. Go by your bath's actual filled water volume, not the advertised capacity, when using the table below.
| Ice bath capacity | Proportional daily runtime |
|---|---|
| 300 L | 1 hour 20 minutes |
| 450 L | 2 hours |
| 500 L | 2 hours 15 minutes |
| 600 L | 2 hours 40 minutes |
| 800 L | 3 hours 35 minutes |
| 1,000 L | 4 hours 25 minutes |
Important
These are illustrative figures, scaled proportionally from our own usual operating practice - not an independently validated sanitisation schedule.
Never operate the generator for more than 60 minutes continuously. Split the total daily runtime into separate cycles of up to 60 minutes each, allowing it to cool between cycles in line with the manufacturer's instructions.
Ozone should supplement, not replace, appropriate water sanitisation.
No, the ozone unit doesn't have a built-in timer. If you'd like to automate it, you can plug it into a smart plug and set up a schedule so it switches on and off at set times - a straightforward way to run your cycles without having to remember to do it manually.
If you do this, make sure your schedule still follows the same guidance above: no single cycle longer than 60 minutes, with a cooling break before the next one starts.
The 1,000 mg/h rating refers to the generator's nominal ozone production capacity. This is equivalent to:
The amount of ozone actually dissolved into the water depends on several factors, including diffuser efficiency, water temperature, circulation and organic contamination. A higher ozone output does not automatically mean a specific volume of water can be sanitised within a fixed period.
No. The VERO ozone cleaner features an integrated air pump. Simply connect the supplied hose and diffuser stone and follow the operating instructions. No additional air pump is required.
Many of our customers run the VERO ozone cleaner on its own - typically before and after each dip - to help keep the water clear and reduce biofilm build-up on the sides of the bath and any filtration kit. Ozone is a powerful oxidiser, which is why we built this as a chemical-free option for people who'd rather not deal with chlorine or bromine day to day.
That said, ozone doesn't leave a lasting sanitiser residual in the water once it's switched off, so for the most consistent water quality - particularly on a bath that's used heavily or shared by several people - the ideal setup is ozone alongside a low level of chlorine or bromine. Whether you run ozone on its own or combine it with a chemical sanitiser comes down to your own usage; either way, we'd recommend testing your water regularly and changing it when needed.
No. Never enter or use the ice bath while the ozone generator is operating. Ozone gas is harmful when inhaled. Always operate the unit in a suitably ventilated, unoccupied area away from people and pets. Switch off the generator and allow sufficient time for ozone to dissipate before bathing, following the manufacturer's safety guidance.
No. The VERO ozone cleaner should not operate for more than 60 minutes continuously, based on the manufacturer's advice. The generator requires cooling periods between operating cycles to prevent overheating. Do not exceed the manufacturer's maximum daily operating time.
Ozone can help maintain water quality, but it does not eliminate the need for regular water changes. The frequency depends on water volume, filtration, sanitiser levels, number of users and general water conditions. Always test your water regularly and replace it when necessary.
The VERO ozone cleaner is designed and tested for ice baths and cold plunge pools only. We can't advise on using it for aquariums or fish tanks - ozone can be harmful to fish and other aquatic life if it isn't very precisely controlled, so we'd recommend against using it for that purpose.
Our ozone generators are not fully waterproof, so where possible we'd recommend some shelter from direct rainfall - particularly during prolonged or heavy rain - to help support the unit's long-term performance.
In practice, many customers run their unit without any extra cover at all, often positioned on top of an ice bath chiller (if they have one) for convenience, and we've tested our own units outdoors through direct rainfall over an extended period without issue. That's our own experience rather than a guarantee of water resistance, though, so some shelter - even a small canopy or other overhead protection - is still the safer option where it's practical for your setup, and should help prolong the unit's lifespan.
Important
Always position the generator securely, away from standing water, and somewhere it can't accidentally fall into the ice bath.
In summary: shelter isn't strictly required, but it's a sensible precaution where practical, to help protect the unit over the long run.
Yes - the unit can be wall-mounted using the fixing points on the casing.
If you do mount it, we'd recommend fixing it to a flat, even surface and avoiding over-tightening the screws, as this can distort the casing and potentially compromise its seal.
Connect hose
Connect one end of the hose to the black connector on the ozone generator.
Fit valve
Connect the valve in the middle of both hoses, joining them together.
Fit diffuser
Connect the diffuser stone to the end of the hose.
Place in water
Place the white hose and diffuser stone into the water and turn on the ozone generator.
Important
Ensure the end of the valve fitted with the green band is facing towards the diffuser stone (towards the ice bath water). Failing to do so will prevent air flow out of the diffuser stone.
